In late Summer, 2018, Marcus made the move west, leaving behind nearly 15 years in New York settling in Laguna Beach, a beachside town 45 mins (without traffic) from LA. For Marcus it meant packing up an apartment and 2 storage units in Manhattan and Queens, not an easy thing to do in less than 2 weeks.

After shedding a tear or two after leaving a city that Marcus holds close to his heart, Marcus embraced a new life settling into a 1930’s beach cottage he calls “The Treehouse” You enter the house over a bridge and once inside you quickly realize you are totally surrounded by the tallest gum trees ever. Once owned by a famous Suffragette that lived amongst a community on the property, the house is a classic cottage with not much unchanged since it was built.

Skylights allow light to fall into the whitewashed living space, there are plenty of shelves to allow Marcus to display his beloved ceramic collection, a priority when he was looking. Laguna Beach is a haven that boasts beautiful beaches and a strong community of characters. Once an Artist’s community that thrived in the 1930’s and 1940’s, it was a place where bohemians flocked.

A far cry from the big smoke but an exciting new adventure, Marcus still travels for work but enjoys the return to the beach and the calmer life outside of his usual hectic schedule, watch out for further posts as he explores the area.
